No tengo mucho que decir, porque quiero mostrar esta foto. Digamos que hoy es Miercoles Mudo.

I don’t have much to say, because I want to show this photo. Let’s call today Wordless Wednesday.

Hoy my abuela cumple sus 106 años. Imaginemos lo que pensaba, cuando mi primo Hamlet y los demás familiares tomaron esta foto?

Today is my abuela’s (grandma’s) 106th birthday. Let’s imagine .. what she was thinking, when my cousin Hamlet and the rest of the family took this photo?

Door Open Lock

And I ask you .. how to open and lock a door at the same time? Maybe we could lock the door – right after - people are in or out of the room.

Have you spotted any weird signs?

It has been a while since I wrote for the blog. School assignments keeping me busy, plus wedding planning and even a job. Any minute now “they” won’t let me call myself a blogger.

On the bright side, last night I saw this email from McDonald’s and I simply have to share it with you. “I’m loving it“ McDonald’s taught me that ”leap year” in Spanish is “año bisiesto”.

So here is a very cute infographic that made me smile:

Hace tiempo no escribo para el blog. Muchas tareas para mis estudios, los detalles para nuestra boda, y hasta un trabajo. Ya me van a quitar el titulo de bloguera.

La buena noticia, es que anoche leí una nota de McDonald’s, y aquí la comparto con ustedes. “Me encanta” que por McDonald’s ahora sé que “año bisiesto” es “leap year”.

Aqui les dejo con la imagen que me puso a sonreir:

If you have trouble viewing the infographic, here are the important details:

Purchase one Sausage McMuffin with Egg, get another one FREE

Buy one Big Mac and get another one FREE

How’s that for a fun “extra”? Gracias, McDonald’s!

Si acaso hay dificultad con ver la grafica, aqui los detalles importantes:

Con la compra de un Sausage McMuffin con huevo, recibe uno GRATIS

Comprando un Big Mac, recibe uno GRATIS

Que crees, de este “extra”? Thanks, McDonald’s!

I know for some this will be controversial, but that makes zero difference to me.

As a child I remember a school trip, where we walked up all the stairs to the top. For a while it was almost impossible to even stand next to her. Now you can make plans to visit her.

I tell people the reason New Yorkers can see her so well is because she is on the New Jersey side of the Hudson River. Of course, my friend Chela knows the technical details of the Supreme Court decision establishing jurisdiction, something about underwater or dry land was involved in there.

Where do you stand? Is she a Jersey girl, a New York landmark or (fill in the blank)?

This past Saturday, I spent the day with Ruby of Growing Up Blackxican. It was a mommys-only outing, and we giggled about all kinds of things. We walked and talked, spotting people and things that are so very “only in New York”, such as an extravagantly dressed man in the subway (we raised our eyebrows) and a truck full of antiques (we got photos).

What got my biggest laugh was this psychic’s signs – because “reader and advisor” are fancy words even before the font change. So I got this photo for Wordless Wednesday. How many mis-spellings can you find, aside from the one I copied?

This personalized license plate got me started me on “say what” for Wordless Wednesday this month.

Imagine the police officer who has to issue a ticket for this vehicle?

This sign is on a door, hidden in a corner of the library at one of my college’s campuses. The first time I saw it, I did a double take and truly said out loud “say what now?”

I have never met the people who posted the sign. The door is always closed. I imagine they were interrupted a lot, before the sign went up. If I could meet them, I’d say

Shhh. Happy Wordless Wednesday.

Every so often, when Lesli hears or reads the news, she asks me if it’s true. My response is often “I don’t make up this stuff, reality is funny enough.

Today I spotted this sign in a window and could only take a picture to prove it really exists. For now, let’s leave it as Wordless Wednesday.

With this recent heat wave, newscasters have been telling us to stay cool. Lesli has been spending volunteering with children, which some might say is the least likely way to stay cool.

Last week the group took a trip, to a museum with interactive exhibits. They all ran, jumped, laughed, and forgot about the outside world while enjoying the contradiction of a museum that lets kids touch everything. Lesli sent me this photo, with the subject line:

Guess what I’m doing for the next half hour?

I think for a while Lesli forgot about the heat, the pressure and the stress of looking after thirty kids that all come with different needs and wants. She went for a walk, and forgot her age.

Find a reason to smile today! Have a wonderful Wordless Wednesday.
